About

Divecaster, is the latest project from Philly-based songwriter Jack Stanton. The first Divecaster record, Donuts in Parking Lots, features some of the best jazz/rock players in the Philadelphia area. It’s a ranging album, an engaging mix of fusion-pop, rock, and folk-rock tunes. Jack began writing the album in 2019, and recording began in August of 2021. The album is produced by local guitar virtuoso Erik Sayles, who also plays lead and rhythm guitar in Divecaster.

Jack’s been performing since college in Vermont, where he co-founded the Northeast Union Band. Since then, he’s played his music solo and in bands up and down the East Coast. And now, he’s the front man and primary songwriter for Divecaster.

Jack cites his more obvious influences, Steely Dan, The Beatles and James Taylor, along with a more eclectic mix, like jazzbo Gary Burton, Radio Head, and Gerry Rafferty. His new song from the upcoming Divecaster release, “Watertown,” is a perfect example of the vivid lyric-writing fans have come to expect. His most recent songs tackle intimate relationships, the struggles for equality, and striving for goodness; all set in a complex harmonic frame, and with an array of rhythm hooks. No detail is overlooked in Donuts In Parking Lots. Strings, horns and sophisticated vocal arrangements give any listener something to enjoy.
